MYANMAR clinched three gold, one silver, and one bronze medals yesterday, taking its totally to 8 medals at the 19th ASEAN University Games. ASEAN University students participated in yesterday’s Wushu event at the Wanna Theikdi Stadium (A) in Nay Pyi Taw. In the men’s Wushu Taijijian and Taijijian event of Sanso and Taolu, Myanmar’s Nyein Chan Ko Ko secured the first place with 19.22 points and Khant Min Htet came second with 19.10 points. Indonesia’s Bobie Valentinus Gunawan, secured the third place with 19.09 points. The Union Minister for Education, Dr. Myo Thein Gyi, and officials awarded medals to the winners of the competition. In the Men’s Taijijian competition of Sanso (56 kg weight category), Myanmar’s Nine Tan won a gold medal. In the women’s Taijijian competition of Taolu, Myanmar’s Myat Noe Eain stood first with 9.60 points, Malaysia’s Chan Lu Yi came second with 9.54 points, and Singapore’s Vera Tan Yan Ning took the third place with 9.53 points. Officials presented the prizes to the winners. In the traditional cane ball (chinlone) competition, Thailand secured the first place with 305 points, Malaysia came second with 209 points, andMyanmar placed third with 204 points. Up till now, Myanmar has secured five gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal at the Games.
